36. And sitting down they watched Him there. 37. And set up over His head His accusation written, ” THIS IS JESUS KING OF THE JEWS.” 38. Then were there two thieves crucified with Him, one on the right hand another on the left. 39. And they who passed by reviled Him, wagging their heads.
I would like to draw your attention to the above mentioned scriptures, not to focus only on Jesus, but to pay attention to the crowd and their perception as to what they were witnessing. Remember, those in attendance were many of the same people who saw Jesus wrought many impossible miracles, they witnessed the blind eyes being opened, they couldn’t believe the crazy demonic who was now in his right mind. Yet all throughout Jesus’ earthly ministry, they never truly knew or understand His divine purpose, neither did they know Him~ Scripture says, they sat down and watched Him, later it would reveal how they reviled Him and wagged their heads at Him. Have you ever had someone wag their head at you for something you’d done, or from a situation you were in. ( God ordained it for His purpose and glory) A wag of pity or even disgust. They were now looking at Jesus with that same look of disgust, saying, we thought You were the Son of God, and if so, I know you wouldn’t be dying on a Criminals Cross. Then to hear Him cry to His Father, asking Him, why have You forsaken Me? Only for His Father not to respond. Then to hear Him utter the words, “IT IS FINISHED!” Surely it was over, He said so Himself. But what they didn’t understand was, “VICTORY SOMETIMES LOOK LIKE DEFEAT”, this was all a part of God’s redeeming plan to reconcile sinful man back to Himself. Hallelujah!! You should have shouted Victory right there. God sent His Son in the likeness of sinful man, to become a substitute for them, to hang on a Cross as a sacrificial offering, a Lamb w/out spot or blemish. Our salvation was being watched and mocked, they were despising our deliverance. They didn’t understand what they were witnessing. Our Victory was hanging on a Cross, but they viewed it as Defeat. Our hope was on that Cross, yet it looked liked despair. Forgiveness, yet He was dying a Criminals death. God’s ways are not our ways.~ You need to get it in your spirit that you are not, and cannot be defeated; Greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world. You are more than a conqueror, oh yea, they watching, they think it’s over for you. They see you struggling trying to make ends meet, and then lose your job, they saw your husband walk out, leaving you to raise a family by yourself…oh yea, they watching, some are even saying, “IT IS FINISHED!!”, you don’t have to say it, they will say it for you. Because of what it looks like. They compare your news of Cancer, to all the people they knew who didn’t make it, as if your situation isn’t any different. But I’m here to tell you TODAY that the devil is a liar, he cannot pronounce death over anything that God has breathed life into. Hallelujah!!Oh yea, it may not look good, the diagnosis didn’t sound good. Just leave that up to God, “cast your cares up-on Him, because He cares for you.” He’s in the process of teaching the devil “ANOTHER” lesson, it ain’t about “them and they” that’s watching (although this will be a testimony to them when you come through), no, this is spiritual, this is between God and the devil, you just happen to be in it, but because you are in it, God will bring you out for your benefit and His glory. So tell that devil today, yea I’m going through, but this ain’t my end, my Victory had to look like Defeat, I had to spend those nights crying myself to sleep, in only proved the Truth in His Word, “weeping may endure for a night but joy cometh in the morning. Hallelujah!! Hold my brother’s and sisters in the Lord, joy is on the way. Hallelujah!!! Glory to His Name!!! Who the Son sets free is free indeed!!
